Just Words....Exact Words

Charlie Gibson and his crack staff join Team Obama officially last night. During his interview with Governor Palin, Gibson tried to prove her fundie cred with this misquote:

GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, “Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.” Are we fighting a holy war?

PALIN: You know, I don’t know if that was my exact quote.

GIBSON: Exact words.

PALIN: But the reference there is a repeat of Abraham Lincoln’s words when he said — first, he suggested never presume to know what God’s will is, and I would never presume to know God’s will or to speak God’s words.

But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that’s a repeat in my comments, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God’s side.

That’s what that comment was all about, Charlie. . . .

GIBSON: But you went on and said, “There is a plan and it is God’s plan.”

Sorry, Charlie. What she actually said...her actual EXACT QUOTE, was this:

“Pray for our military. He's (Palin's son, Track) going to be deployed in September to Iraq. Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do also what is right for this country – that our leaders, our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God. That’s what we have to make sure we are praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan.” . . .

See, Christians - even the ones you might run into at the ABC cafeteria - often pray that their imperfect human actions are in line with what their Creator wants them to be doing. They don't presume to know what God intends, they only pray for guidance that their actions are in line with His will.

Are you, Charlie Gibson, admitting you don't know the basic details of the Christ Doctrine? What experience do you have in such matters? You, sir, were obviously unqualified to have given this interview.

The NEW Chicago Politics

From Byron York at NRO, via the Chicago Tribune Swamp blog:

[Gov. Rod] Blagojevich, who supports favorite son U.S. Sen. Barack Obama for president, today criticized Democrats for belittling the experience of Republican U.S. Sen. John McCain's running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and took a jab at the work of legislators who run for executive positions…

Blagojevich, who said he spent two summers after high school working on the Alaska pipeline, readily defended the executive experience that governors have in contrast to legislators when it comes to being presidential material.

"I would hope the Democrats wouldn't say that about a governor," Blagojevich, a former state legislator and congressman, told [radio host Spike] O'Dell of criticism that the first-term Palin lacks experience.

"The reality is, governors every day have to make decisions for better or for worse. That's part of the job. It's an executive position. And it's a position that is like what you're going to do when you're president. Legislators, they do different things. They debate and they pass their bills back and forth," he said.

"But governors make decisions, and I think it's a tactical mistake for the Democrats to question Gov. Palin's experience when she's been a governor of a state," he said. "I don't think the size of the state is relevant. It's the kinds of decisions you have to make as governor. They (Democrats) should focus on the issues and why the policies of President Bush ought to be changed and I think that's what will help Obama win."
Biden thinks Hillary should have his gig, and the Governor of Obama's home state thinks Governors have plenty of executive experience, Palin included.

Is anybody campaigning for Obama to actually be the President any more?

Deeds Most Fowler

What a loving, happy, inspirational couple.

First, Don Fowler, former DNC head and current Jackass gets caught on tape saying "Everything's cool...God is on our side", when it looked like Hurricane Gustav might do serious damage to New Orleans and completely disrupt the Republican convention. Republicans, of course, were preparing to thwart the Almighty and offer assistance to the potential victims. Not Fowler, he was flying home to be with...

Mrs. Carol Fowler, who states that Sarah Palin's only qualification was that "she has not had an abortion". Which precludes the Mother Fowler from consideration, apparently.

Both had to "apologize" and try to explain away their vileness. Both failed.

Daddy Fowler is sorry if anyone was offended. Yup, that's what he actually said. Not sorry he said it, sorry you took it that way. It's a nuanced position, full of possibilites. If a huricane strikes the coast hard enought to halt a convention in Minneapolis, God is behind it and wants it to happen. Which is a step up from "Mr. Bush and his Haliburton Weather Machine", I'll give him that.

Mrs. "Babies Are A Hanging Chad In My Uterus" Fowler said she was talking about "single-issue" voters. Yes, Carol, there was a danger of all pro-lifers voting for Obama until Governor Palin came along. What an insight.

Imagine having to call these people friends, sending them Christmas cards, attending their God-sanctioned natural disaster cocktail parties, and haivng to say "Peace Be With You" to them in church. Ugh.

Biden Your Tongue

A late endorsement:

Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America," Biden said. "Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend; she is qualified to be president of the United States of America. She’s easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me, but she is first-rate.”

Plagiarism is Light Work For Obama

Obama:
John McCain says he's about change too, and so I guess his whole angle is, 'Watch out George Bush -- except for economic policy, health care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy and Karl Rove-style politics -- we're really going to shake things up in Washington,'" he said.
Run with it like ya stole it, Obama!!

Cribbed cartoon captions passed off as campaign rhetoric. What's next, Ted Rall as speech writer?

Hey Dems: That Sound You Hear...

...is your "Hypocrisy" ringtone. Distinguished from your "Racist" ringtone and your "Sexist" ringtone, which you apparently have on "mute" these days.

Either "families are off limits" as Obama has decreed, or they are not.

Joe Biden thinks they are not. Here he is inferring that if the Palins really cared about their Down syndrome baby, they'd support the Democrat version of stem cell research.

Even the One himself can't resist, claiming that
"(Palin)'s got five kids and my hat goes off to anybody who's looking after five. I've got two and they tire Michelle and me out!".
Time for a new decree it seems.

Maybe the Obama's are tired of driving the girls to school, or mabe it's from working so hard to afford the $15k each per semester tuition.

True to form, it was THE MEDIA that created a false sense of outrage. Not Obama. Not his snickering, snarky followers at the campaign stop. Nope. THE MEDIA did it.

Obama:
"See, it would be funny, but the news media decided that would be the lead story yesterday. This happens every election cycle. Every four years, this is what we do. This is what they want to spend two of the last 55 days talking about...Enough!"

It would be funny, see.

Nope, I don't.

Obama: 'Lipstick on a pig'

Amie Parnes reports from Lebanon, VA:

Quote:
Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.

"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."

"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."

"We've had enough of the same old thing."

The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."

Since Palin owns the word 'lipstick" this season due to the punchline to her oft-repeated hockey mom joke, will the ever-sensitive Dems recognize the three glaring references to:

1) Sarah Palin is the pig in lipstick
2)"Old" is a dig at McCain
3) Fish" is a derogatory slang for women (ask Andrew Sullivan)

If Obama meant to imply all of that, he is unfit to be President.
If Obama did not mean to imply any of that, he is an idiot for not knowing which words are "code" words.

BTW, If McCain had characterized Obama's secretiveness regarding Ayers and Wright as "Trying to get the fried chicken recipe from Colonel Sanders", or described Obama's Marxist environmental programs as "Like watermelons...Green on the outside, Red on the inside", would that be simply using a "turn of the phrase" and would McCain not be attacked by libs?

This is a major gaffe from Obama.

UPDATE: Video added. As you can see, the crowd of post-racial light worker fans knew exactly who and what he meant. Apparently Joe Biden was introduced at a different event by Congressman Carnahan with a different take on the lipstick theme.

Catchy Little Tune

The Undocumented Worker Song

By Tom Spaulding, with deepest apologies to Led Zeppelin

Waaaah, Waaaaaah,
We come to the land of the ice and snow,
From the Baltimore Sun where the press corps blows.
The spammers of the God
We’ll drive our quips to new lows,
To write the lies, bitch and cry:
Wasilla, we are coming!
Sweep the veep with thrashing pen,
Our only goal is help Obama win.

Waaaah, Waaaaah,
We come to the land of the ice and snow,
From the iv’ry towers and the Vinyard homes.
How’d ya get your fields so Green,
Without whisper’d tales of Gore,
We claim bonafides in War.
We are your Overlords.
Sweep the veep with thrashing pen,
Our only goal is help Obama win
And we will never stop to rebuild all our ruins,
For Hope and Change can win the day
Despite of all our losing.
